Helmut is into ecology, gastronomy, modern art, massage and fitness in his restored former silkworm factory between the Cevennes, Provence, the Ardèche and the Mediterranean. It is at the end of a lane, right out in the country facing the austere and powerful landscape of the Cevennes. You enter the inner courtyard covered in wisteria, through an impressive stone arch. The ambiance is of lush vegetation with cascading pools and aquatic plants and a kitchen garden. Inside, Helmut who owns an art gallery in Anduze, has decorated the rooms with modern paintings and sculptures. The bedrooms are simply furnished. There is an oriental tea room and he also offers a choice of light or multi-course dinner, tapas or home farmed trout. Breakfast is German style, plentiful and organic.
